The National Transport Authority has initiated a public consultation process for a “Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) – Core Dublin Network.” There is a proposal to create a route from Blanchardstown via Castleknock to UCD.
I am delighted to announce that I will be opening a Local Office in the Laurel Lodge Shopping Centre in the New Year. I hope to run clinics from the office on a regular basis from January 2014 and to provide the active representation that the people in this constituency deserve.
I welcome the recent announcement from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs that funding is being provided for a new Youth Cafe at Castleknock Community Centre in Laurel Lodge. I attended the AGM of the Castleknock Community Centre early in 2013 and having spoken to members involved in this project there has been a significant volume of work, effort and time spent within the community progressing this project over the last number of years. I am delighted that funding is now being provided so this project can be brought to full fruition. The Youth Cafe will add an extra dimension for young people in the community locally and I hope it grows and progresses into the future.
I recently attended and spoke at a public meeting in St. Mochta’s National School and there is widespread anxiety, opposition and concern to this proposal in the Dublin 15 community. Irish Rail are trying to accelerate this on the grounds that they want to provide “electrification” to the Maynooth line. Electrification could still be progressed without permanent road closures as has been achieved with the DART line. There are already significant traffic problems and if the road is closed these problems will only worsen. Fingal have proposed to place a footbridge over the road but there would be no disability access. It was stated at the meeting that the closure could cost close to 500,000 euro which is a gross waste of finite funds when basic local services are scarcely being provided.Read more
The continued investment and commitment to education must be maintained with an increasing youthful population locally as evidenced by the recent census. I want to wish all students and staff in all our schools a happy and successful academic year.Read more

Jack Chambers has welcomed the recent announcement of the reallocation of funding for Castleknock Community College’s Sports Hall and Extension after it had been previously excluded from the Government’s Five Year School Building Program. Jack attended and spoke at the recent Public Meeting on Thursday May 18th organised by Castleknock Community College’s Parent’s Association on the absolute importance of the proposed project.
