I was delighted to participate in the Castleknock5km last Sunday...there was great participation from hundreds in our community including many members from St Brigids GAA Club and Castleknock Hurling & Football Club all in aid of the Connolly Hospital Stroke Unit.

It is planned to provide five new playing pitches as part of the next phase of the development of Tyrrelstown Park. These will include two GAA, two Soccer and one Cricket pitch. The construction and drainage of the pitches will take place from February 2015.

Sport binds communities and plays a critical role in the promotion of physical activity for all. I am a keen sports player and have played a wide variation of sports with many of the local sports clubs throughout my youth to today. There have been multiple successes in recent years by many of our local sports clubs and players and we must lay the foundations for future success with continued investment and focus. I will endeavor to work with all of the local sport organisations to support the development of sport across the Dublin 15 Area and to assist them in any way I can.
